2011 Annual Conference (added 21st February 2011)
The IAFPA's 20th Annual Conference will be held from Sunday 24th to Thursday 28th July 2011 in Vienna, Austria. It will be hosted by the Acoustics Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. 2010 Conference Information (added 3rd January 2010)
IAFPA's 2010 Annual Conference will be hosted by the Department of Phonetics at the University of Trier from Sunday 18th to Wednesday 21st July. Conference Information (added 29th September 2008)
The 2008 conference in Lausanne was a great success and very well attended. It is hoped that most of the presentation will be available to download from this site soon. The 2009 conference will be hosted by the Department of Linguistics at the University of Cambridge from Monday 3rd to Wednesday 5th August.

Voices and Identity Workshop (added 27th May 2008)
The DyViS Project team from Cambridge University are running a Voice and Identity Workshop on Monday 7th July 2008. This is a 'outreach' day aimed at professionals from fields such as law enforcement (e.g. detectives, investigators, scientific support officers), law (e.g. judges, magistrates, barristers) and criminology. Registration is now open until Friday 13th June. Speakers and contributors are Francis Nolan, Kirsty McDougall, Gea de Jong, Toby Hudson, Martin Duckworth and Peter French. IAFPA 2008 Conference - Extended Submission Deadline (added 27th May 2008)

First International Eurasian Congress of Forensic Sciences (added 23rd May 2008)
The First International Eurasian Congress of Forensic Sciences titled 'Fight Against Terrorism: Interactive Relationships Among Forensic Disciplines' is being held in Istanbul, Turkey on 8th to 11th October 2008. Papers are invited on a wide range of topics including forensic phonetics and acoustics. IAFPA President Prof Peter French will be running a workshop on 'Identification of Speakers in Criminal Recordings', assisted by Burcu Önder, Linguist, Council of Forensic Medicine, Turkey.

Resolutions (added 2nd December 2007)
At the IAFPA 2007 Annual Conference two resolutions were passed at the AGM. These have now been added to the website on the resolutions page. The first concerns analysis of language and speech for the determination of national identity, whilst the second presents the IAFPA's position in relation to voiceprints.

The 2007 IAFPA Conference in Plymouth was very successful. Most of the presentations are now available on the 2007 conference programme page. Further information including the venue for next year is now on the conference page.

IAFPA 2007 Conference Dates (added 27th October 2006)
The IAFPA 2007 annual conference will take place from Sunday 22nd July 2007 (reception and registration) until Wednesday 25th July 2007 in the Desmond Tutu Centre of The College of St Mark & St John, Plymouth, UK. Further information will be added to the conference page when it is available.

The IAFPA journal 'The International Journal of Speech, Language and the Law' now has a new publisher, Equinox. Further information about the journal is available on this website on the journal page and on the publisher's website.

A start has been made on the website which will eventually contain all of the details for the IAFPA 2006 Annual Conference. The website can be found here. The conference website will be updated as and when information is available.
IAFPA 2005 Annual Conference (added 19th August 2005)
The 2005 IAFPA Annual Conference held in Marrakech was a resounding success. The IAFPA would like to thank the Gendarmerie Royale and those who organised the conference.
The winner of the student prize was Claire Gurski with her presentation 'Voice onset time comparisons of French-English/English-French bilinguals'.
The conference programme is still available and will be retained on the website. It is planned that programmes from other past conferences will also be added.
IAFPA 2006 & 2007 Annual Conferences (added 19th August 2005)
It was decided in Marrakech that the IAFPA 2006 Annual Conference will be hosted by the Institute for Linguistics at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The provisional dates for the conference are from Sunday 23rd July to Thursday 27th July 2006.
It was also decided that the 2007 Annual Conference will be hosted by the College of St Mark and St John, Plymouth, England.
Further information about both conferences will be posted on this website as soon as it is available.

IAFPA 2005 Conference - Accommodation (added 6th July 2005)
The conference organising committee cannot guarantee that reservations for hotel rooms will be accepted as late as two weeks before the conference. If you require accommodation to be arranged please contact the organising committee as soon as possible.
IAFPA 2005 Conference - New Information (added 5th May 2005)

IAFPA 2005 Conference
The IAFPA 2005 Annual Conference will be held in Marrakesh, Morocco, from 3rd to 6th August 2005 and will be organised by Mamoun Alaoui and hosted by the Moroccan Gendarmerie. Information is now available on the conference page.
IAFPA - New Name
The International Association for Forensic Phonetics and Acoustics (IAFPA) is the new name of what was IAFP. The incorporation of forensic acoustics into the Association was agreed at the 2003 Conference in Vienna. The Constitution and Code of Practice have been updated and the new versions are now available on the website.
